Winchester Street Reach are currently recruiting team members to deliver youth work out in the local community and lead on a range of exciting centre-based projects.

This is a part-time in person role for a Project Lead Youth Worker located in Winchester. This role is a senior role with the responsibility of planning and delivering a range of project sessions, including evening outreach, Friday Football and targeted workshops. As a Lead Youth Worker, you will be responsible for overseeing and supervising a team of youth workers and volunteers. You will ensure that young people’s needs are met, facilitate a safe and welcoming environment, build positive relationships with young people, and foster an inclusive and diverse culture.

12 hours per week  (Daytime and Evenings)

Monday and Tuesday evenings and Friday evenings (on rota), with some flexibility for the remaining hours.

Pay: £13 per hour

Project Lead Youth Workers will:

  • Be accountable to the Operational Lead, contributing to the implementation of processes during shifts
  • Help young people to develop self-awareness, self-esteem, and confidence using creative methods such as arts, sports, and recreation
  • Play a key role in coordinating and supervising youth work sessions to ensure they are safe and engaging
  • Support our staff through training and progression.
  • Guide young people in understanding their individual and group responsibilities and advocate for their entitlement to services.
  • Help plan, record, and evaluate sessions while attending regular staff meetings and supervision sessions.
  • Lead by example in youth work sessions, fostering a team identity that is trusted and valued by the young people we serve.
  • Join us in upholding our safeguarding policies and collaborating with local organisations to create positive change in our community

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A creative and flexible approach to problem solving and program delivery
  • A good understanding of the issues facing young people today
  • The ability to work collaboratively and in partnership with other organisations and agencies
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people

It would be beneficial for candidates to have relevant experience in youth work, education, or social care,  as well as arts or sports leaders and to have an understanding of child protection and safeguarding policies and procedures.Please be aware this is not an entry-level position. It is a requirement to have a Driver’s License for these roles.
