Winchester Street Reach are currently recruiting team members to deliver youth work out in the local community and lead on a range of exciting centre-based projects.

This is a part-time in person role for a Youth Worker based in Winchester. In this role, you will work directly with young people in the community. Your day-to-day tasks include providing support, advice, and opportunities to young people in need. You will also organise and facilitate youth club nights, drop-in projects, and trips.

As part of our team, you’ll dive into exciting projects like the Friday Football project and go into the community in our new youth bus, complete with a DJ console. 6 hours per week  (Evenings)

Salary: £11.50 per hour

Monday and Tuesday evenings and Friday evenings (on rota for Friday Football)

As a youth worker, you will:

  • Support the Operational Lead and a Project Lead Youth Worker in implementing processes during shifts.
  • Engage young people through various activities such as arts, sports, and recreation to promote self-awareness and confidence.
  • Assist in coordinating and facilitating safe and engaging youth work sessions.
  • Participate in staff training and development opportunities.
  • Guide young people in understanding their responsibilities and accessing necessary services.
  • Collaborate in planning, documenting, and assessing session outcomes.
  • Contribute to a positive team atmosphere and rapport with young people.
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies and collaborate with local organizations for community involvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people, preferably in a disadvantaged community
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good listening and counseling skills
  • Ability to work in a team and build positive relationships with community stakeholders
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
